Payload - First Gen N-Gage - Official Trailer Video

Payload was the very last game of the original generation N-Gage. It was released at the beginning of 2006 with virtually no fanfare at all, in fact it was the only commercial N-Gage title that wasn't available as a gamecard. The only way you could buy it was through Nokia's N-Gage Shop website, which sold original generation N-Gage first party games as downloads.

The game itself concerned a desert world where you had to race skimmers across the surface delivering valuable materials while avoiding enemies.

It's worth noting that the trailer above contains virtually no actual gameplay from Payload, it's almost entirely pre-rendered CGI.

Where to get Payload

Perhaps uniquely, there is NO legal way to buy Payload any more. The N-Gage Shop site has closed down, and all the downloads it sold were locked to a particular user's phone.

All other N-Gage games can still be bought second hand as gamecards on ebay, but Payload was never released as a gamecard.

The upshot of all this is that the only way to play Payload is to try and get hold of a pirated copy, which is illegal.

If anyone from Nokia is reading this, would you please release Payload as freeware, as a gesture of goodwill to those who bought the original N-Gage or QD? There's absolutely nothing to lose by releasing it as freeware, because there really is no legal way to buy it any more.
