Lament Island - S60 3rd Edition - Video & Review

Do you enjoy phone games which look and feel like they were written for a home or portable games console? Well, Lament Island is the game for you. You can see a gameplay video above, and my written review is at the link below:

Lament Island is a 3D action-adventure which looks and plays very much like the early Tomb Raider games, but with a distinctly Oriental flavour as the game's developers are from China. The graphics and sound are lightyears ahead of most phone games, not just technically but artistically as well. The intro is a wonderfully delicate Chinese song accompanied by paintings of various scenes, while the game itself begins with a video clip of the hero entering the mysterious house on a tropical island. The in-game sound is creepy, and the music and effects are perfectly suited to the on-screen action.

Not only is it a jolly good conventional game, it also has some unconventional gameplay thrown into the mix, with the phone's microphone and camera also used for solving certain puzzles. To be honest these special puzzles seem to be more of a novelty than a new kind of gameplay, but it's very nice that a phone game developer actually pays attention to the special abilities of phone hardware.

This is one of the best games to ever appear on mobile phones. If you have an S60 phone, whether it's 2nd or 3rd, then you should get this game.

Will Lament Island work on my phone?
