Space Impact: Kappa Base for Next Gen N-Gage demo - Video & Thoughts

As stated in the Asphalt 3 post, I've got hold of a Nokia N81 smartphone and am trying out the demo Next Gen N-Gage games which you can download to it.

The Space Impact demo (aka Space Impact Light) is an impressive 2D scrolling shoot-em-up which has a nice balance between difficulty and wanting to have another go. There are also customisation options with a choice of vessels and weapons (almost all locked on the demo though), and you can even choose a particular pilot.

The whole thing feels very slick indeed, and this isn't surprising as it's a first party game published by Nokia themselves. On the original N-Gage most of the best games were by Nokia, and despite their troubles as a platform holder they have become one of the best mobile game publishers in the world, with nearly all of their games receiving excellent reviews.

Space Impact is definitely the best demo on the N81, hopefully the full game will be just as good.

The inspiration for Space Impact: Kappa Base is of course the original Space Impact which tens of millions (hundreds of millions?) played on older Nokia phones such as the 3310.

You can see a gameplay video of the Space Impact demo above.
